The leather

Born in the hills of Tuscany, Buttero leather is tanned the classic way—full-grain hides soaked in tree bark and other plant extracts, not harsh chemicals.

The result is a vibrant red leather that starts firm, quickly molds to your dog’s shape, and darkens into a one-of-a-kind patina with every adventure.

At 5 mm (3/16") thick it feels reassuringly solid in your hand yet gentle against your dog’s coat, delivering eco-minded craftsmanship and quiet luxury all in one collar.

How it is made

Every SV Leather collar starts with a single side of Buttero hide shipped from a family tannery in Tuscany.

We trace each pattern by hand, then cut a clean strip that will form the collar. The edges are beveled and burnished until they feel smooth against a dog’s coat.

Five adjustment holes and a precise center slot are hand-punched, after which the O-ring and brass buckle are fitted and set on a manual press.

Finally, the leather is conditioned with a small-batch balm, stamped with our workshop mark, and given a careful quality check before it makes its way from New Jersey to your doorstep.
